What is a Military-Connected Student?

Military families face unique struggles because of transfers, deployments, separations and other transitions that may occur frequently.  McGaugh Elementary recognizes these struggles and strives to empower children of military parents, with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive.

As our Vision Statement proclaims, our entire staff is committed to inspiring every student to be excellent. We are proud of our high-achieving students, our talented and dedicated teachers, and our exemplary academic, art, and special education programs. We are also proud of our community partnerships with both Seal Beach PD as well as our military liaisons and families.

Anchored4Life

Thanks to funding provided by the US Navy, McGaugh is an Anchored4Life School (A4L). Anchored4Life is a peer-to-peer support program that teaches change and resiliency skills. Although the program has military-specific components, it is designed to support all students whether or not they are military-connected. The club is led by 8 Team Leads composed of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. In addition, each class will identify two crew members that will help the Team Leads with school tours, activity groups, service projects and more.
