Principal's Message
Dear Sea Lion Families,
📢 Late Lunch Drop-Off Update 🍎
We are committed to creating a supportive and organized school environment for all students. We understand that, despite best efforts, a lunch might occasionally be forgotten at home. To ensure a smooth process, allow office staff to focus on maintaining school operations, while keeping classroom disruptions to a minimum, we want to inform families of our updated Late Lunch Drop-Off Procedure starting on Monday, February 24th.
🚗 Late Lunch Drop-Off Process:
- A Late Lunch Cart will be placed outside the front office each morning.
- All lunches must be clearly labeled with your student’s name and classroom number.
- Lunches must be dropped off by 11:15 AM
- Lunches dropped off after 11:15 AM will not be accepted and cannot be delivered to your student.
- If dropping off a special fast-food lunch, it must be in a labeled bag (name + classroom number). No soda, as outlined in our school handbook. Please try to reserve special lunch drop-offs for special occasions only, like birthdays.
- No Uber Eats, DoorDash, or other third-party deliveries will be accepted.
- Please do not tell your child to come to the office to pick-up their lunch. All lunches dropped off by 11:15am will be on the lunch cart in the lunch area. They will not be allowed to leave the classroom or lunch area to pick-up a late lunch.
🥪 School Lunches Are Always Available:
If a student forgets their lunch, a nutritious school lunch is always available—no child will ever go without a meal.
📞 Why We Cannot Call Classrooms or Deliver Lunches after 11:15am:
- To maintain a focused and uninterrupted learning environment, the office cannot call classrooms to notify students of a late lunch, nor can students leave the learning environment as it disrupts theirs and others' learning.
- Once the lunch period begins, lunch supervisors must remain in the lunch area and playground to ensure student safety and supervision.
- Office staff are busy assisting students, managing school operations, and ensuring a safe school environment.
💡 Plan Ahead for a Smooth Day:
To help prevent forgotten items, we encourage families to pack lunches, snacks, and water bottles the night before. This simple habit can help ensure your child has everything they need for a successful school day!
💧 Water Bottles, Snacks, Backpacks, and Jackets, etc. & Planning Ahead:
- Please make sure your child brings their lunch, snack, jackets, backpacks, and water bottle each morning. If any of these are forgotten, it can be placed on the Late Lunch Cart and will be delivered at 10:30 AM (upper grade recess) or picked up at the lunch cart during lunch time.
- We cannot call classrooms for delivery.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school day running smoothly while prioritizing student learning and safety. Your cooperation helps us create the best possible environment for our Sea Lions.
START WITH HELLO:
Starting on Friday, February 28th, each 4th Friday of the month we will celebrate START WITH HELLO. Our goal is to eliminate social isolation and give our kids tools on how to reach out and SAY HELLO!
Though the Sea Lions at McGaugh are extraordinarily compassionate, accepting, and kind, there are young people in every community who suffer silently because they feel left out, alone, or invisible. We are bringing START WITH HELLO to our school to teach our Sea Lions how to identify when someone is alone or feeling isolated. We will give them the tools and language to use to help others feel connected. We will teach how they can help someone in need...all it takes is to START WITH HELLO.
